A rally in front of the Rikers Island bridge and on Zoom organized by the Justice 4 Women Task Force. The “What About Her? Rally at Rikers” was dedicated to women, past and present, who have been detained on Rikers Island and have experienced the trauma associated with it. Speakers touched on information including but not limited to: conditions of confinement, the need to end solitary confinement, release mechanisms, visitation, JPAY policies, and the inadequate care and unpreparedness regarding COVID-19. Through all of these discussions, it is clear that we need to FREE HER and CLOSE RIKERS NOW! #WhatAboutHer?
